THE PATIENT ONLY WANTS A PHYSICAL EXAM AND HANDS YOU A FORM TO FILL
- be alert to special situations
- the patient may hand you an insurance form requesting that only certain systems be examined
- the patient will tell you that you don’t need a history
- go ahead and introduce yourself, examine the systems listed, and then leave the room
- No patient note is usually required
- you are required to only fill out the form the patient gave you with the appropriate findings
- in these encounters, the emphasis is on the correct performance of the physical exam, professional and appropriate patient interactions
