Surgery resident blog: Orientation
Surgery resident blog: Orientation
Orientation was quite an interesting experience. It included getting oriented to the department of surgery, ATLS, and very basic information about the function of the hospital and how to use the computer system.
Today was our final day of orientation.
I am nervous about tomorrow. After coming home, my heart hasn’t stopped speeding. I ritualisticll (this is the beginning of my ritual) take my white coat and iron it. I hang it up where I can access it as I begin to put in the contents. It is now facing me, the doctor of tomorrow, I of today. Tomorrow, we will be one.
I gather the laminated cards one by one. There is one for H&Ps. One with all of the hospital phone numbers. A card describing what to include in the clinic note, discharge summary, and even death summary. I have an antimicrobial therapy pamphlet. A nutritional support handbook
My ACLS card… where are my ACLS cards? I find it and place it in my coat pocket.
