You should take the ABSITE exam during your research years

Most residents have to take the ABSITE exam during their research year. If you left for research as a PGY2, then you take the junior exam. If you left for research as a PGY3, then you take the senior exam. The decision to take the ABSITE is a program decision, meaning that not all programs make their residents take the ABSITE during their research year. You do not need clinical experience to ace the ABSITE. You just need to keep up with your reading.
