Why the ABSITE exam is frustrating

Why the ABSITE exam is frustrating

1. It involves memorizing lots of facts that you hardly use in everyday management of surgical patients
2. The test lags several years behind the literature
3. The questions can sometimes present two theoretically (and in practice) correct answer
4. The test can ask questions for which there is no good solid reference which clearly highlights  the correct answer
5. You are asked to differentiate between concepts that are clearly in the gray zone such as management of a 4 or 5cm adrenal incidentaloma.
