Absite Preparation Tips

Absite Preparation Tips

1. Review the topics you missed from last year. Chances are those topics will be tested again this year, and if you don’t review them, you are just as likely to get them wrong.

2. About 1-2 months before the exam, your review resources should include ABISTE board prep books and ABSITE MCQs. Let go of the textbooks. At this point, they are too dense and detailed and you just don’t have the time for them. (You should be reading the textbooks throughout the year.) The board prep books and MCQs tend to focus on the most high yield material, i.e. the topics and questions you are most likely to see on the exam.

3. Force yourself to study every day. I know. It’s hard. It’s always easier said then done. You have patients to take care of, operative cases, dictations, the list goes on and on. But force yourself to study for 30 minutes to an hour every day.  Keep your board review book and ebook with you at all times so that when you have any down time, you are reviewing.

4. After the exam, take notes of topics you were unsure of. This will help tailor your review for next year!
