I remember the fear I held prior to initiating my studying for the USMLE exams. I had attended info sessions to help me prepare for the exam. I was told what books to buy, how to study, where to study, how often to study and with whom. The info sessions were held by SNMA, and AMSA, and during multiple class sessions. My big sib had insights, and so did some of my professors. Unfortunately, none of them could study with me or take the test for me. I had to go it alone, and so do hundreds of medical students each year. For some, they find their study strategy in working with Kaplan QBank; for others, it’s working with USMLEWORLD. What I have attempted to do here is catalogue some of the test prep services available to students. Some offer free question banks, and most will take a chunk out of your financial aid — but it’s worth it given the fact that this one test really can determine which specialty you can apply into and where you will match for residency.
