WORDS OF WISDOM FOR 10/15/11

For this Saturday, reflect on how far you’ve come and how much you’ve accomplished. Appreciate what you do have. Appreciate who you are as a person. Call your parents, family members, and friends. Take some time today, Saturday, to treat yourself for all of the hard work you have accomplished. If you are not happy, ask yourself why. We all work so hard toward our goals, but sometimes we just need to stop and thank God for what we do have. Finally, if you are not happy, you need to adjust your expectations.  If you get everything you wanted, would you be happy then? Probably not because you will then find other things to be unhappy about. So, in short, my advice to you today is to take care of yourself and to be happy starting today.

10/13/11:  Check out your Myers-Briggs personality type. It could give you an insight into the kind of person you are, and your strengths and weaknesses, which could be helpful as a premed, medical student, or resident.

10/14/11: If you are conducting research, your goal should be: submit your work as an abstract, present a poster at a conference, give a talk at a conference, and/or publish your work in a peer review journal. Research without publication never existed.
