Hey all, I am a fourth year medical student from the University of Oklahoma. I am going to be doing a visiting student elective in Psychiatry at UCSF. I will at the SFVA Hospital (Outter Richmond area, Baker Beach/Presidio) from 8/31 until 9/27. I am looking for a sublet or lease for the month. I am clean, open-minded, laid back, and have spent a lot of time in the bay area so I am pretty familiar with things. Close to transportation would be awesome, but I am open to all offers!
Please email me at benjamin-hidy@ouhsc.edu or call my cell at 918.704.1468. Thanks!

Hi everyone. I will be leaving San Francisco for the month of August (08/01-08-30), and I’m putting my room up for sublet. Rent will be $710 + utilities. The room will be furnished (full bed, desk, bookshelf, dresser, etc). There are three other housemates : two MS4s and one surgery intern, all very friendly (so you should be too). Large kitchen, large living room, and the bathroom will be shared with two others. Parking, laundry, and wireless internet all available. 15 minute walk to Parnassus, close proximity to several Muni lines, including #36/43/44, which take you to the Forest Hill Station to go downtown. Please email if interested : jonathan.chong@ucsf.edu

*9/19-10/16 1 bedroom sublet – $1200/month*
I’m doing an away rotation and have an awesome 1-bedroom at Mission Bay campus I’d like to sublet from 9/19-10/16 (I may leave a few days earlier). It’s got high floors, lots of light, granite countertops, a large bathroom. I’m asking $1200/month (or best offer) for everything (including TV, electricity, phone, internet) or $350/week. This is considerably less than what I pay so it’s a great apt really.
Especially great access to SFGH and Mt. Zion with the shuttles. Parnassus shuttle too obviously. Parking available for additional $60.
E-mail if interested, have questions or want photos.
Best, Andrea (andrea.fang@ucsf.edu)

I am looking for a new tenant to take over my room in a gorgeous 3 bedroom flat in the Inner Sunset. The flat is on the 3rd floor, located at 10th and Lawton, a 10-15 mins walk from Parnassus campus, and within 2 blocks of Muni lines 6, 43, and N. The 2 other roommates are 3rd year female med students. The room is spacious with a window and large 2 panel closet. Living room, dining room, and kitchen are also remodeled and large, all connected to a balcony with a panoramic view of the city. The unit has hardwood floors throughout; laundry is in the unit, coin operated. The building is also occupied by UCSF students/staff. The lease will be one year, starting Sept 1 2009 to 2010. Rent is $970, and utilities/internet come out to about $25-45 a month depending on the weather.
The unit is ideal for a female UCSF student who wants a comfortable, updated living space close to campus. Please email if you are interested in seeing the space or have questions!

Looking for a room…
Hey Team. My name is Chas. I’m an entering medical student looking for a room for the year anywhere near campus. I know very little of SF. I’m looking for a room in a house or apartment with a couple friendly housemates and preferably a backyard. I’m from a little town in the mountains of Colorado and I’m a medical anthropologist. I’ve been on an island in the middle of Lake Victoria all summer working on an ethnography of HIV/AIDS in Western Kenya and haven’t had a minute to work on housing yet. Personal details, hmm: I love to cook vegetarian, I have to get out into the mountains every few weeks, and I like to brew beer. If you know anyone looking for to fill a final room spot please drop me a line.

Hi!
I am looking for a place from Sep-Jan.
I am a 4th year medical student doing a research internship at UCSF from Sep 1 through Jan 31st. I am looking for a furnished room for some or all of that time period, preferably close to the UCSF Parnassus campus.
I am a really easy-going person, responsible and have had a lot of experience with roommates! I am new to the SF area and have been out here for about 2 months now and love it! I really like being outdoors (hiking, running). Aside from that, I am pretty low-key, love trying new restaurants and meeting new people! I don’t smoke or do drugs.
If you have a sublet available, please feel free to contact me (nisreenm@umich.edu).
Looking forward to hearing from you!

I am a 3rd year UCSF med student, and I’ll be away most of Sept. I have a room available in a 3 bedroom Victorian flat in the Mission District, and there will only be one other person here most of the time in Sept and one cat. My roommate is mid-30’s man, works in elder-care facility, very clean/quiet/friendly.
Dates are flexible, rent is $750 (utilities included), room is 11′x11′. Tons of light, great neighborhood, laundry in the unit, dishwasher, wireless internet, basic cable, good sized kitchen, dining room and common space. Very close to restaurants/coffee shops, grocery store 1 block away.
It is about 10 min walk to SF General Hosp where there is a reliable shuttle every 20min to Parnassus. The place is also a 5 min walk to BART and very close to other transportation. If you have questions, I am happy to give more info about the place. Thanks for looking!

One room for rent in a beautiful, newly-renovated 3BR apartment in Cole Valley/Haight Ashbury. Available Oct 1st.
We’ve lived here for a year, and love the place (apparently everyone who comes over here does, too – it’s very unique, a converted loft). The kitchen appliances are new, landlord is great, furniture is classy because one of us has great taste. The available room is spacious, with a window that gets plenty of light (southern exposure). There is a pretty big closet, and enough room for the typical bedroom furniture. There is also the option of having the room furnished (our old roommate is moving into a furnished place, and is looking to sell some things).
Utilities are split 3-ways. There’s a Laundromat right around the corner. Several bus lines–6, 43, 33, 71–and the N-Judah are all very close. Walking distance to UCSF Parnassus Campus, two blocks from the Haight, one block from Cole Valley. If you’re into parks, we’re a block from Buena vista and a few blocks from GG Park.
As for us, we’re both east coast transplants in our second year of med school at UCSF. We’re both pretty social and enjoy having a few people over for a drinks, movie, dinner, and also like exploring the city. We do the med school thing, and we like it, but we don’t study 24/7. Basically, we like balance.
So if you’re looking for a great apartment and think you’d get along with us, please respond.
No pets allowed – sorry!

Hello! We are a married couple both doing rotations at UCSF from 9/28 – 10/24, and are looking for a sublet for part or all of that time. We’re happy to sublet a whole apartment or a room in an apartment. We’re pretty quiet, non-smokers, no pets, and are open to any reasonable possibilities! Please email me at hiniker@umich.edu if you know of anything.
Thanks very much! Susie

Hello,
My roommates and I are moving out of our 4 bedroom apartment on 4th avenue between Irving and Hugo. The apartment has a kitchen with stove and fridge, W/D in the basement (coin operated), and 5 rooms. We paid $3000/month and split between 4 people, but it could also be used as a 3 bedroom with two extra rooms. It is a real 4 bedroom as 4 of the rooms have large closets. The rooms are large and bright, two have bay windows. There are two full bathrooms also. We have kept the place very clean and well-maintained.
Please email me if you are interested. We have given our one month’s notice and wanted to make it available to UCSF students first. The apartment will not be listed on the market until Oct.

I am a 3rd year UCSF med student, and I’ll be away in Oct. I have a room available in a 3 bedroom Victorian flat in the Mission District, and there will only be one other person here most of the time and one cat.
Thanks!

We’re even a little flexible with those dates as we know some people we can crash with for a few days if need be. We don’t need a luxury apt, just a place to sleep for the month. Please email me at ishani.ganguli@gmail.com if you have any leads, thanks!

Hello,
Large, furnished room for rent in March and possibly April 2010. I am a 4th year UCSF med student who will be doing an away rotation at that time. My apartment is at 6th and Judah, 3.5 blocks from the main hospital. Rent is $975 + utilities.
Email iris.ma@ucsf.edu with questions.

I have a spacious studio/in-law in Noe Valley. Large kitchen with access to the garden and great garden view. The apartment has a living room/bedroom, kitchen, washer/dryer, and is fully furnished. All utilities are included, with WiFi and cable as well. I will be living back in Southern California through April, hence, I am looking for a subletter. There is plenty of street parking, and you will be 2 blocks from all the amazing shops, restaurants, coffee shops, and whole foods on 24th street. It is also less than a block from all public transport, making it very easy to get around the city, UCSF, without a car.
I pay more than what I have listed, but am asking for $1150 a month (includes all utilities).

Bedroom available April 1 in 2bedroom/1bath apartment. $840/month plus $950 deposit
Unfortunately my roommate is being sent to LA for her Pharmacy
rotations starting mid-March to early April and I need a new
roommate. I live in 2 bedroom 1 bath apartment in a quiet 4 unit-
apartment complex on 20th Ave between Irving and Judah. There is a
spacious furnished living room and furnished kitchen. The unit is
very close to Highway 1/19th Ave, 2 blocks from Golden Gate Park,
close to transportation, restaurants, stores, post office, etc.
About me: I’m a couple of months from starting 4th year of med school, outgoing,
very active and studious. I like to have a clean apartment- at least
the common living space- and prefer a non-smoker, female (but open to
guys) and am hoping for another student but if you know of anyone who
is trustworthy and responsible please pass this on. Sorry but no pets
allowed.
Rent is $840/month plus 1/2 utilities (DirectTV, PG&E, internet).
Deposit is $950. Move in date is April 1, but can be negotiated to
start as soon as March 20th if needed.
Thanks,
Diana

Hi, I am a second year medical student who will be leaving town from March 8 to May 1st. I am looking to sublet my in-law garden apartment at 2nd and Hugo for 1400/month. That includes utilities and it is fully furnished. It is all yours–a bedroom, living room, kitchen, and bathroom all to yourself. Parking is pretty easy in the neighborhood, and you may be able to negotiate with the landlord to use the garage. The price is negotiable–it is more important for me to find the right tenant than to recoup the entire loss. This is perfect for a visiting medical student, visiting researcher, etc. as it is only a block and half from UCSF Parnassus. 1/2 a block from Golden Gate Park, close to Haight Ashbury, Cole Valley, 9th Street, etc. The N-Judah picks up 1 block away and can take you downtown. It is a cute, quiet little street. Please e-mail me if you are interested and I would be happy to send pictures, etc. I am hoping to sublet it for the duration of the time I am gone but if you only want to sublet for part of that time please e-mail me anyway!
thanks!

Beautiful, furnished, 1-bedroom, top-floor flat Feb 7-Feb 27 $79 per day or $1500 for the whole time!
My AMAZING apartment is located in the inner Sunset/Golden Gate Heights area. It’s a 15min walk to UCSF and 10 minutes to 9th and Irving and Golden Gate Park. There is close public transit and the N-Judah is a 5-10 min walk. Also the Forest Hill Muni station is only 10 min and has 3 lines that are all underground (quick to downtown, about 10min).
The apartment is about 900sq feet with a huge bedroom, separate dining room, an office/living room. The apartment is a top floor flat with carpet, high ceilings, and crown molding. There are several windows in each room, so there is always a lot of light (even on a foggy day). The apartment receives Eastern light in the dining and living rooms and the bedroom (which faces the back) receives Western light.
The apartment is fully furnished in style! Bathroom has a separate large tub and shower with great pressure and plenty of hot water since the unit has its own water heater. The kitchen is loaded with supplies, a dishwasher, microwave, toaster, gas range and oven, blender, and a coffee maker. The bedroom comes with a really comfortable CAL KING bed, a dresser, bookshelf, and a vanity. The bedroom walk-in closet is quite large. The dining room comes with a maple formal dining table and chairs. The living room has new couches and chairs and an entertainment center with a TV, DVD, VCR, and cable. The office (part of the living room) has cable Internet and a sleek L-shaped desk. Downstairs there is a shared yard and your own full-size WASHER and DRYER. The neighborhood has plenty of non-permit parking.
Rent is $1500 the whole time or $79/day and includes cable internet, water, and trash. There is a deposit and Gas and electricity use will be your responsibility. I would like to rent out the place the entire sublet period, but I will rent out for less time if it works out for both of us.
I am looking for quiet and responsible sublet. Since this is a nice, quiet neighborhood I am hoping for someone who doesn’t party (at least not at home). I will entertain all offers, so if you like what you read and see, please send me an email!

Can I borrow your car for $?
I am a 3rd year about to go to Fresno for a 6-week rotation, March 1-April 9. I need a car during that time, and would reimburse you to rent your car for 6 weeks. I would not use it very much, just to get down there and back once and then just local drives to the hospital, and would take very good care of it. I thought it would be worth a shot to post this in case you are going abroad or won’t be needing your car for some other reason for 6 weeks and wanted to make a bit of money off it.
Thanks!

Panhandle room for rent (10-15 walk to UCSF), $730/month
I have a four bedroom apartment on the top floor of a Victorian on Oak Street (between Cole and Shrader), and one room is now available for rent starting immediately. The apartment is quite nice with views over the Panhandle, especially for the low rent ($730/month + $60/month for utilities). The current roommates are me (first year med student, male, 27), an architect (male, 30) and an interior designer (female, 25). We are all easygoing and like to hang out, we keep the place neat and get along well together. The apartment has a full kitchen (oven + four gas burners, toaster, microwave), there’s a washer/dryer in the apt (no coins needed). There’s a single bathroom split in two (one room with toilet, one with shower) and sharing it between four has never been an issue. There’s also a common room with two couches and a TV and BEAUTIFUL views of Saint Ignatius Church up by USF.
The room for rent is ~12′ by 12′ with a deep closet, south facing window and hardwood floors. The apartment is a 10-15 minute walk up the hill to campus, and just two blocks off Haight where there are lots of good restaurants and other things to do.
If interested shoot me an email (Brent – bscharschmidt@gmail.com). Thanks

Large One Bedroom/one bathroom apartment available for rent March 1st. I am leaving my apartment in the inner sunset for sunnier climates on the other side of the hill, and wanted to let folks know about it. It’s on 3rd and Irving (super close to Parnassus), has a large living/dining room with fireplace and built-in bookshelves, large bedroom with large closet, bathroom with shower over clawfoot tub, good size kitchen with pantry (no dishwasher), and lovely shared backyard. Living room and bedroom have hardwood floors. No laundry/no parking. Bicycle storage downstairs. Garbage and water included in rent – PGE usually cheap because you don’t pay for hot water. I rented it for $1632 per month, not 100% sure what it will be going for. Please contact the landlord Jeanne Sonnenblick at j1-2sonnenblick@sbcglobal.net with questions or to see the place.

Bedroom available in 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom apt – Rent $879, deposit $1000, Move-in June 1
My fabulous roommate is graduating and moving on to residency and I would love to find another UCSF student to live with.
I live in a 2 bedroom 1 bath apartment in a quiet 2-story building on 40th Ave between Irving and Judah. There is a spacious living room, dining area and a furnished kitchen. We don’t have a washer/dryer, but there’s a clean Laundromat 1 block away. The unit is 9 blocks to Ocean beach and 1 block from Golden Gate Park. It is 1 block from the N-Judah line so it is easy to catch and you don’t have to put up with the noise!
A
bout me: I’m starting my 4th year of med school, and I love to exercise. I enjoy relaxing and watching a movie, but really need some quiet in order to study. I like to have the common living areas clean and somewhat organized. I am looking for a non-smoker, female UCSF student. If you’re in medicine I can answer questions about medical school and certainly let you borrow my many books I have accumulated. Sorry no pets allowed (landlady lives upstairs, so even though I love animals they can’t live here).
Rent is $879/month plus 1/2 utilities (PG&E, water, telephone). Internet included in rent. Two parking spaces in driveway (one for each of us).
Deposit is $1000. Move in date is June 1.

1 bedroom available in a 3bd/2bath top floor (3rd floor) Inner Sunset flat!
Hi, I’m moving out of my apartment this month, so this great room can be yours for $637/month. You would be sharing the hallway bathroom with 1 other female roommate. The bedroom has a large window with indirect sunlight, clean carpets, a nearly wall-to-wall closet, approx 11′x11′ (more than enough room for a desk, full bed, nightstand, small bookcase). The flat itself has skylights, a full kitchen (gas stove), living room with fireplace, and eating area. Utilities are not included, but amount to ~$50/month (wireless internet, basic cable, gas, electricity, water, garbage). A great deal, considering the prime location close to Irving St restaurants/groceries, the N-Judah, UCSF, and Golden Gate Park. If you have a car, there’s only street parking. We’re looking for a responsible, studious female student (no smoking/drugs/pets) to share this apartment with 2 other professional school students (1 male pharmacy student, 1 female nursing student). Thanks!

I have a 1 bedroom available in a two bedroom / 1 bathroom apartment available at UCSF Mission Bay. It will be available from end of March to June 30th. The rent will be $926. I really need someone to take over the lease so I will also give you a $300 move in bonus! The apartment will be unfurnished but hopefully the move in bonus will compensate. You MUST be a UCSF affiliate (UCSF STUDENT) to rent this place. Email me at nguyen@ucsf.edu if you are interested! Thanks!

Inner Sunset Sublet April 25 – June 20
Furnished room available in a beautiful home in the Inner Sunset. Our house is newly renovated and has a huge amount of space. The bedroom overlooks a small garden, and there is good light – especially beautiful in the afternoon. You would share a bathroom with one female roommate. Washer and dryer inside.
Easy, non-permit street parking in a safe neighborhood. Irving Street’s shops and restaurants are a few minutes away on foot. Walking distance to UCSF, Golden Gate Park, and Grand View Park and within running/biking distance of Ocean Beach. Close to the N-Judah, and the stop for the #6 Bus that takes you downtown is two blocks from the house.
The room is available from April 25th to June 20th, with some flexibility. Rent is $925 plus 1/3 of utilities.
Thanks!

Summer bedroom sublet near Parnassus, June/July through August –
Hello! I am a first-year medical student looking to sublet for 8-9 weeks this summer one bedroom in a 3 bed/1 (2 x 1/2) bath flat on 5th Ave between Irving and Judah. The place is in the Inner Sunset only minutes away from the Parnassus campus and right on the N-Judah MUNI line. It will come furnished, and your roommates will be other UCSF med students. The rent is $833/month plus utilities, including cable and wireless Internet.
The time frame I am looking at is flexible, starting late June or early July and lasting until late August. Ideally, if you are a visiting student from New York, I would be willing to discuss a straight-up housing swap for something in Manhattan.
Please e-mail me at serna.matthew@gmail.com if you are interested.

I am an Internal Medicine resident at UCSF. My sister is coming up to SF for a summer job and she needs a “mini-sublet” of sorts from May 22nd-May 31st (may like it to start earlier, the 17th but not sure) to bridge between her apt in LA and the time her true sublet starts on June 1. Please let me know if you might have a room or apt. available.

Hello,
I’m an MS3 doing 4th year away rotation in June this coming summer (June 7 – July 4). My beautiful Inner Sunset studio apartment will be available for sublet at 850$/month, it includes utilities, water, and internet and is on 17th ave (15 minute walk from the Parnassus campus–I walk every day). It’s one huge bedroom, a great kitchen, and a large closet and bathroom, already furnished. I’d be happy to send pictures. It would work for a couple or for a single person doing a 4th year rotation at UCSF. My landlord doesn’t normally allow sublet but is willing to allow a medical student, resident, or nursing student to stay during my away rotation. Email me if interested!

We are planning on being there end of May (or June 1st until about August 20th). I don’t know how “do-able” these dates are on this UCSF website but please contact me if you do know of someone/something that would fit.

Hi,
I have an awesome 1-bedroom at the Mission Bay campus I’d like to sublet for 7 weeks from 4/24-6/12 (or for some significant portion of). High floors, lots of light, granite countertops, large bathroom. I’m asking $1200 per month or $2000 for the entire 7 weeks (or best offer) for everything (including TV, electricity, phone, internet). This is considerably less than what I pay so it’s a great apt really.
Especially great access to SFGH and Mt. Zion with the shuttles. Parnassus shuttle too obviously. Parking available for additional $60/month.
E-mail ASAP if interested, have questions or want photos.
Best, Andrea (andrea.fang@ucsf.edu)

Hey all,
I’m an incoming student looking for a 1BR for the year starting on June 1st. I can see that this post is different from the people above who looking for subletters or sublets, but I figure that med students are probably living in the closest/cheapest places around UCSF. So, if you are moving out of your awesome Inner Sunset place and want to toss a fellow future doctor a bone, shoot me an e-mail!
More details:
Moving from Berkeley, so I can come see your place any time. Moving with boyfriend and two cats (all potty-trained and very clean). Price range – up to $1500. Parking space would be a godsend and we can pay extra for that. Within walking distance to UCSF preferred (boyfriend will be commuting back to Berkeley, so I’ll have to walk/bike). I know I’m shooting for the stars here, but if your place has at least one of these details fulfilled, I am very interested. Also, if you invite me to see your place I’ll bring baked goods. =)

No drugs or partying. I am also a homeowner and I will respect your property.

Hello,
I’m a graduating 4th year medical student who has enjoyed a wonderful apartment at 10th/Irving. It’s the master bedroom with a private bath in a 4BD/2BA unit. The room is large and very bright with big windows, two full-size closets, and a nice skylight in the bathroom. The apartment itself is quite sizable, bright, and well-maintained. It is the top floor (the entire floor) of a 3 story “house” with only two units in the building. Large kitchen and living room with working fireplace. Free laundry on the first floor with dedicated washer/dryer for our unit.
The other 3 roommates are all (non-medical) professional females in mid-late-20s, all great roommates. Two work downtown with 8-5 hours; the third is a student by day and sous chef by night. We all keep pretty busy, get along great, and keep a nice respectful home environment.
The neighborhood couldn’t be better for a medical student or resident (I lived here all 4 years of med school). 10 minute walk to UCSF, a block from N-Judah and many bus lines, tons of restaurants, grocery/convenience stores, cafes nearby, a block from Golden Gate Park. I frequently pick up dinner and/or groceries on my way home. Couldn’t ask for a better location.
Rent is $920 with option for garage spot for $120 (which includes the driveway and therefore can park a second car, a steal for this neighborhood). Rent includes water, garbage, and free laundry. We pay for PG&E (gas and electricity) and internet, which runs about $30-40/month per roommate.
Overall, I couldn’t be happier living here for UCSF. Ideal for med students (especially clinical years with the garage) and residents. I’m moving to the east coast for residency and so would love to pass this unit on to another UCSF-er.
Please feel free to email me (mary.zhang@ucsf.edu) with questions or for photos of the room if you’d like. I’m out of town for 2 weeks with limited email access but will reply when I can. The landlady Kitty would be happy to show the room — please call her at 415-671-9613 to set up a time.
Thanks for looking! Best of luck in your search.

Hi,
I’m a fourth-year medical student who will be leaving my apartment on June 1st. It is a modern, furnished studio apartment in Golden Gate Hts (between Inner Sunset and West Portal) with a large bedroom, a bathroom, and a kitchenette. It is on the top of a big hill with wonderful views of the ocean, outer sunset, Marin and the peninsula. There is a really nice and highly under-utilized park at the end of the block (called Golden Gate Heights Park). The apartment is located right on the 6 bus line just south of UCSF Parnassus campus. The bus ride to school is about 5-10 minutes. Walk is about 15 minutes to campus, 10 minutes to the inner sunset, and 5 minutes to west portal. My landlords are a wonderful young couple and they live upstairs. Sarah is a Urology resident and Gyorgy is a biophysicist who works over in Berkeley. They are very friendly, quiet, and respectful.
I’d be happy to pass on the lease to an incoming student, or to whomever is interested. Rent is approximately $800 per month (may be cheaper, depending on how long you’d like to stay) and includes all of the utilities and internet.
Please email me if you are interested.
Best,

Female fourth year med student with one, potentially two, room(s) opening up in beautiful inner sunset 3br 2ba flat (12th Ave/Judah) starting June 1st. Top floor unit with lots of natural light from skylights. Coin-op washer/dryer in building. Room available for sure is large master bedroom—13×16 ft, double closets, and private bathroom. $900/month + shared utilities (PG&E, internet, cable) ~$60/month. Second bedroom is approx. the same size, but with single closet and shared bathroom. $800/month, may be open to 10 month sublet.
Our apartment is homey, comfortable, and a good place to relax. We are fairly social, have friends over occasionally, and usually throw a few dinner parties a year. Ideally, we would like to find a female roommate who is friendly, respectful, and responsible, and will enjoy our home as we do. If you are interested, please email me. Photos available upon request.

I’m a post doc at UCSF looking for a someone to replace my departing roomate in my 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apt. The room is available May 1. The rent on the apartment is $2400 a month (so $1200 per person), plus PG&E and cable. There is also a parking spot in a covered, secure garage if you need it (there is no additional fee for the parking spot–it’ll be free when my current roommate moves out, and I don’t need it).
To move in, the deposit is $1000, you’ll need to pay a $150 application fee to the landlord, and they’ll run a credit check to make sure you’re okay. The advantage is that you’ll be added onto the lease under its current terms, which are month to month. So if you to find a place to live for a few months while you look around for a long term living situation, that would be fine, as long as you’re considerate and give me a month notice when you’re ready to move on. Alternatively, we could talk about signing a new lease with the rental agency. That would save you the $150 fee, but lock you in for a 12 month term.
About the place: the apartment is pretty large. The kitchen has a dishwasher–stove is gas. The living room and dining room are one large combined area, so the place is pretty open and gets a lot of light. Other than the available bedroom and bathroom, the place is completely furnished–I have a couch and TV and will buy a dining room table to replace my departing roommate’s table. There is a laundry room on the first floor with coin-eating laundry machines.
The location is pretty convenient to a lot of things. It’s at the Eastern edge of the Inner Richmond, just South of Laurel Heights and near USF. Trader Joe’s is right around the corner, and Lucky is down the street, so groceries are easy to get when you need them. The 38 and 43 stop right around the corner, as well, so you can get downtown or to UCSF easily. If you’re moving to town to work at UCSF, feel free to drop me a line and ask any questions to you might have. I’d like to find a reliable roommate, and if you also work at UCSF, it might be a little easier for us to get along.
My current roommate and I keep the place neat, and I’d like that to continue, but I’m far from being OCD. People have long days and leave dishes in the sink. That’s cool. If you can never, ever be bothered to put your dishes in the dishwasher, though, please move along. I also cannot stand the smell of pot. It makes me sick to my stomach, so if you want to smoke up at home, keep looking. Also, the apartment is for two people, so no live-in significant others. Other than that, I’m easy to get along with. I’m a 31 year old male. I’m past the heavy partying years. I very occasionally will have a few friends over for dinner or something like that, but never any late night partying at home. I don’t care about gender, sexual orientation, age, race or anything like that. If you’re reasonably neat and considerate we’ll get along. If interested, you can email me at pbeemiller@gmail.com
Per the lease, no pets are allowed.

Hi – I’m a third year Dartmouth med student coming to do my internal med rotation at California Pacific Medical Center from August 15-Sept 26 (though dates for sublet purposes are flexible.) My boyfriend and I are looking for an apartment close to CPMC or public transport to stay in while I’m working there.
We’re both very clean, and won’t have a car. He’s a freelancer and works from home, so we’d prefer to sublet a studio or one-bedroom (though we’d consider a roommate too, as long as you didn’t mind having the two of us there!)
Let us know if you have something that suits us and we’d be happy to help you save some money while you’re away!

$960 Beautiful 6th Ave Flat w/1 Roommate (Inner Richmond)
Share top-floor, 1800+ sq. ft. Edwardian flat with one great roommate—me! Just a few blocks north of Golden Gate Park (directly across from UCSF), close to the de Young Museum and CA Academy of Sciences, USF, the Presidio, Green Apple Books and great neighborhood restaurants on Clement and Balboa. One block to two MUNI express lines straight downtown from this safe and colorful Inner Richmond neighborhood.
Large available bedroom is 18’ x 11 ft. (unfurnished) with 10-ft. ceilings, West-facing bay windows, hardwood floors, two installed land-lines and a private cable hookup; located in the front of our well-maintained, quiet building. In the room is a low, 8-ft. long bookcase and a chest of draws in the double-deep closet. This is a grown-up thinker’s place, and the rest of the flat is beautifully furnished with some room for more.
Shared roommate spaces include large eat-in-kitchen, airy bathroom w/your own floor to ceiling cabinets, three extra storage closets, music/living room with piano and well-behaved plants, and a storage pantry leading to small balcony, great views and a big backyard with bucolic garden and patio BBQs.
Shared utilities run ~$50/mo. Wireless DSL (optional) is also available. First, last & deposit ($2835) for move-in. Garage parking, if available, is additional $210/mo. Laundry is ½ block away. Sorry no furry pets (unless they pay rent too); smoking outside only. References required, and I can share mine. Available by June 01, 2010; flexible move-in dates.
I am an F/40’s designer, scientist, TEDster, writer; low-maintenance, green and civic-minded sub-genius w/an artistic sensibility and broad-minded friends. Busy, upbeat, informed and a very neat person.
Please CALL 415.845.9073, anytime, and tell me a bit about yourself and what you are hoping to find. I look forward to speaking with you! And, good luck in your search.
Truly,

Hey,
We have three rooms to rent out in an awesome house very close to UCSF. Five of us (surgery residents) moved to San Francisco last June after lucking out on this place, but three of them are leaving UCSF at the end of June since they finished their prelim years (for residency spots elsewhere).
The house is owned by an ENT attending at Kaiser who now lives outside the city. It was completely remodeled in 2004, so everything is very new. It is a 4-story, 5-bedroom, 5.5-bathroom house with a 2-car garage and 2 outside parking spots. Three of the bathrooms have their own Jacuzzis (all bathrooms are new granite stone). We have one kitchen patio that overlooks a garden, and a large rooftop deck redone in granite stone with an impressive view of the ocean, downtown, and Golden Gate park. The entire house has been redone with new hardwood floors, and the kitchen has granite countertops and completely new everything.
The house is located on a quiet block in the Inner Sunset eight blocks from UCSF (10 minute walk), two blocks from the center of the neighborhood with all the restaurants/bars, three blocks away from Golden Gate Park, one block from the N-Judah (which takes you downtown), and just a 5-minute car ride down the hill to Ocean Beach.
The floorplan can be seen via the attached link in addition to the realty pamphlet when it was on the market. The open rooms will be the master bedroom upstairs as well as two bedrooms on the third floor. The rent ranges from $950 to $1250 depending on the room size (not including utilities). The three guys move out on June 21st, so there’s a tight window in terms of moving in.
If interested, email me at matthew.swisher@gmail.com (for current pictures, etc.).
Cheers,
Matt

Bedroom available for RENT JUNE 1st in beautiful 3br 2ba flat. Rent is $804/mo, with shared utilities for about $60/person/mo. The flat is on Moraga St. between 10th and 11th Ave., conveniently located near the N-Judah MUNI and the 43, 6, 44, and 66 bus lines. We are on the second floor, with free washer/dryer, internet and garage access in the building. The apartment is well-maintained with lots of natural light and a large shared living area. The bedroom itself comes with a good-sized closet and has plenty of room for a queen sized bed, desk and shelves. The large window has a great view of the city!
You would be sharing the apartment with one female 3rd year med student and a female professional. Our apartment is roomy, clean, and comfortable. We have visitors and occasional dinner parties but respect each other’s space and schedule. Ideally, we would like to find a FEMALE, non-smoking roommate who is friendly, respectful, and responsible.
When inquiring, please provide a paragraph or two about yourself (work, hobbies, etc.) and what you’re looking for in roommates. We look forward to hearing from you!

Roommate wanted to share spacious 2 bedroom flat right next to UCSF. Rent is $1000/month
My roommate is moving out at the end of this month and I am looking for someone to pick up the lease starting June 1st, but this is negotiable.
About the flat: Located on Parnassus Avenue in between Medical Center Way and Willard St, this spacious 2 bedroom/1 bath flat is in an ideal location only a one minute walk away from UCSF Medical Center and is one one of the closest places to live by UCSF. Each bedroom is quite large with a walk-in closet and the flat also includes a large living room with a bay window allowing for an abundance of natural light. The kitchen is also a great size and includes a large pantry and there is an adjacent storage room as well. The location is perfect for anyone working or studying nearby at UCSF, but is also only a short walk away from Cole Valley and Haight Street and all of the great eateries these locations have to offer and is also very close to the N-Judah Muni line which can take you downtown in about 15 minutes.
About Me: I am currently a 4th year male medical student at UCSF in my mid-twenties, but this ad is open to both men or women. I am easy-going and try to keep the place pretty clean. Preference will be given to anyone able to start the lease June 1st (My current roommate is open to leaving a few days before the end of the month to facilitate the move-in process).
If you are interested, please email me at amitsaxena120@gmail.com and I would be happy to give you more information and to set up a time for you to come and check out the place.

Nice, spacious bedroom available in two bedroom flat in San Francisco. Blocks away from S.F. General with Shuttle service available to Parnassus.
The apartment is located in San Francisco’s Mission District. The Mission District is a vibrant and colorful community has tons to offer. It is home to some of the city’s best restaurants, cultural exhibits, bars, clubs, lounges, and parks.
The living space is nicely furnished with a plush, full-size bed, a spacious stand-alone closet, a small bookshelf, and a small desk. The flat has hardwood floors throughout and is nicely decorated. Some of the amenities include: a 50inch plasma television, full kitchen (with all cooking utensils and pots & pans you will need), washer & dryer in-house, and a Jacuzzi in the outdoor deck, which overlooks a small park and soccer field.
The home is centrally located to many city attractions and is merely blocks away from the 24th Street BART Station, and there are tons of MUNI stops all over the neighborhood. The flat is extremely close to many of the S.F.’s top law firms and public interest organizations, which are located downtown, if you are a law student. This is a fun, safe, and exciting neighborhood, which is friendly to students and young professionals. Additionally, you will be sharing the flat with an easy-going, recently graduated, UC Hastings Law Student preparing for the CA Bar. I ask that the sublet run from June 1st to Mid-August, or August 1st, whichever is best for you. Rent is $1050, and doesn’t include utilities, prefer single occupants.
Thank you for your time.

Looking for a room in a place close to UCSF with 2+ roommates and at least 1.5 baths to move in flexible around 7/1. I’m an incoming MS1 from LA: vegetarian, slowly learning to cook, clean in common spaces who always helps with chores, and like a considerate friendly environment.

Hi all, I’m a MS4 here at UCSF looking to sublet this summer or fall.
1 BR APT in Cole Valley (2 blocks from UCSF Hospital)
Available for all of august, last two weeks of october
Details: large bedroom with bay window, bathroom with shower over tub, walk in closet, living room, entry room, and second walk-in closet/office (tho we may stash some of our stuff in that second closet and close it off to keep it out of the renter’s way). Nicely furnished with queen bed, dressers, desk, couches, large flatscreen etc. Can discuss inclusion of wireless and cable for those who would want it. Coin op laundry in the building.
My fiance and I pay 1600/month (utilities included). A steal for SF market, but maybe a bit steep for one person. That said, will consider all offers. Most important to us is a responsible/considerate tenant. Will also prorate if there for less than 1 month.
For more details, including pictures etc, just drop me an email.
Thanks,

Hello,
I’m an MS1 at UCSF looking to sublet my room in the inner sunset for the month of July but someone could move in earlier in June if they needed to. I’m renting it for $955/month and prorated for any additional time. Here are the details
It’s a beautiful, clean apartment at 5th and Irving with access to a sun room (3 of the walls are windows, its very beautiful and relaxing). The room includes…
Walk in Closet
5 blocks from UCSF
1 block from the N Judah
1/2 block to corner market and lovely irving restaurants
Kitchen, bathroom, living room shared with 2 other people
In Unit Washer and Dryer
Door access to a SUN ROOM in the back of the house from the bedroom (this is the only room with sun room access in the house)
The person would be living with UCSF med students. I would rather sublet this place unfurnished or with a futon in the room instead of the bed – I’m moving a month earlier and I’d rather take my bed with me at that time. Please contact rachel.stern@ucsf.edu if you are interested.

Hi! I’m an MS4 at UCSF offering a bedroom for sublet from 08/01/10 – 06/15/11 (dates somewhat flexible). Located at 9th Ave and Judah, its just blocks from UCSF Parnassus campus (10 min walk), a 12 minute drive to SFVA, and 20 minutes to SFGH.
Great Location- Located at 9th and Judah, the apartment is within steps of every amenity- great restaurants, 2 coffee shops, an award winning bakery, 2 video stores, a pharmacy, dentist, and hardware store. UCSF is a ten minute walk and Golden Gate Park is three blocks away. The N-Judah, 43, 44, 6, & 71 bus stops are just down the block, making every crevice of this city accessible without a car. If bringing a vehicle, we may also have a garage spot available for rent.
Great Apt- The nicely furnished 5br/2ba apartment has fully-equipped kitchen (espresso machine, coffee brewer, refrigerator, stove, microwave, etc.), rooftop patio and backyard with basketball hoop. Machine-op laundry sits directly across the street.
Great Room – Your room comes fully furnished with a double bed, ikea desk, 27″ tv, dvd player and wi-fi. The room sits in the back of the apt, well protected from street noise but supplied with indirect sunlight. The other roommates are an MS3 and 3 working professionals. They’re all clean, respectful and keep to themselves.
I’m looking for a considerate and clean male subletter. The rent is $700/month +utilities (typically $50), plus a $350 refundable security deposit.

The studio is very spacious as I was able to fit a couch, queen sized bed, dresser, desk, tv, and all with plenty of room to walk around. It also comes with washer and dryer that you can use and there is PLENTY of street parking. It’s the whole package. If you are interested please contact annette at abistrup@sbcglobal.net

Hi,
I’m an MS4 from Boston University who will be doing an ortho elective at SFGH from 07/05/10-08/01/10 and am interesting in sub-leasing during that time period. Despite being a guy, I’m neat and clean, and, maybe it goes without saying, but I’m considerate of others, don’t smoke, and don’t do drugs. If you have a room available (probably almost anything will do, since I’ll probably just be coming home to shower and pass out), please contact me at tonyt@bu.edu.

$630 – Room for rent at 10th Ave and Moraga St – Available July 1
This room is in a large 3-bedroom/2-bathroom apartment with a pharmacy student and a working professional, both male. I’m sad to be moving out, but wanted to be closer to Mission Bay. The landlord lives downstairs and is absolutely wonderful. She hasn’t raised the rent in over 5 years and plans not to raise it in the future. The apartment has two washers and two dryers in the garage (free), a huge kitchen and a very spacious common room. Cable, internet, and utilities are split three ways. Please contact me (jonathan.ostrem@ucsf.edu) if you have questions or would like to see the place. I can pass your information along to my roommates.
Thanks,
Jon

My apartment-mate and I (current first year medical students) will be moving out of our place this June 30th. We are looking for two people to rent our apartment starting July 1. It would be a year and 1 month lease. It is a great place with an awesome location – 30 Irving St. Apt #2. It is a 2 br – 1 ba.
* The rent is $1850 a month
* We pay gas, electric, and water
* The rooms are pretty big
* The place gets nice lighting
* Good neighbors
* It is an interesting set up with the entrance opening into a joint kitchen and living room
* It has an awesome deck which has a great view of Golden Gate Park and you can even see a little ocean on a clear day
* There is a decent sized backyard which you share with the other tenants – no one uses it though so really you can do whatever you want with it
* Laundry mat 3 blocks away
* A garage where you can store some stuff if you like
It has been an awesome place and it was great being so close to the Parnassus Campus.

Warning : DO NOT RENT HERE
I am a recent grad from UCSF, and there may be a house opening up for rent at 392 Warren Drive. I lived here with a few classmates for four years. It was initially an okay house, but the landlord has since become very antagonistic, irresponsible, unavailable, and even admitted that he has financial problems, which we felt led to him nickel-and-dime us when it came time to return our deposit. I just wanted to spread the word so that future students don’t have to deal with the mess we had to put up with. jchong.md@gmail.com

We are 2 MS3’s looking for a female roommate in our lovely, furnished apt on 4th and Irving. We are 2 blocks from campus w/ an N-Judah stop 1/2 a block away. The apartment is spacious with 1.5 baths, a formal dining room + living room, kitchen w/ separate prep area/pantry and hardwood floors throughout. There is ample storage throughout the apartment. The bedroom for rent is about 10″x12″ w/ a walk-in closet and fits a queen bed, desk and dresser. We are laid back and busy w/ rotations, but enjoy the occasional dinner party. Rent is $850/month + ~$50 for utilities/ internet. Start date is Sept 1st though we are flexible and could work out an earlier August date as well. Lease would be 1 year.
Please contact connie.chen@ucsf.edu for more information.

Charming, clean, and conveniently located in the heart of Cole Valley!
We have a huge backyard that gets lots of sunlight and is sheltered from the wind, so it makes the perfect condition for BBQ’s & soaking up the sun! There’s crown molding detail in the house & a washer/dryer in the unit. The vacant room is approx 12×12, has a closet, & is available now.
Current residents are both 26; one chick, one dude.
The girl has lived in the house for a year & is a financial professional who works market hours (aka early mornings, therefore also goes to bed early). Enjoys yoga, hiking, reading, wine, and BBQs. She’ll be attending business school part-time starting in the fall.
She has a lovable, small, well behaved, female, 6 yr old australian shepherd. The dog is gone with the roommate a lot on weekends & is well taken care of. (unfortunately, no additional pets allowed)
The guy moved in at the beginning of July. He’s a medical student doing research at UCSF. He enjoys biking, playing guitar, and traveling. He’s pretty much always down to hang out, have a beer, or go check something out around SF.
Rent is $1,000 + 1/3 utilities = internet, electricity, garbage (on average about $70/month)
$1,500 deposit
Let me know if you have any other questions.

Its about a 10 minute drive from Parnassus, and close to Highway 101 and 280, so its easy to get downtown, Mission Bay and the airport. It has two bedrooms and an extra study room upstairs, as well as a kitchen and full bathroom. Downstairs is a one car garage and two additional rooms, as well as a half bathroom. There’s a backyard and a lot of storage space. The house also comes with a new oven, refrigerator, and washer and dryer.
Rent is $2200/month (utilities not included).

Hi, we have one beautiful, light-filled bedroom available in our four-bedroom Victorian house in Duboce Triangle. We are on a quiet street, just next to the park, one block from the N-Judah train and “the wiggle” bikepath to UCSF. The room is available for 1 year, beginning on Sept 1.
We are looking for a respectful, open and honest individual or couple interested in building a strong sense of community at home and sharing vegetarian meals. Rent is $1100 for an individual, or less per person for a couple.
Your housemates would be:
1. a 26 year old female UCSF medical student who works in resource poor communities in West Africa
2. a 24 year old female who works in transportation planning and sustainable food systems
3. a 27 year old fine art photographer and teacher who works with environmental organizations
Collectively, we like yoga, biking, outdoor activities, cooking, art, knitting, and music making (fiddle, drums…).

Hello all,
Have you wanted to live in the sunny Mission, but still be in close proximity to UCSF shuttles, BART and nearly every Muni line? If so, then my apartment is the one for you.
I am moving out of this phenomenal apartment after one year to move to Noe Valley, primarily because I need parking. But, if you don’t mind looking for street parking and you like a centrally located, beautifully renovated apartment with a gorgeous backyard, then you should stop by and see this place. I’d really like someone from UCSF to live here, and my landlords also really enjoy having UCSF tenants. Details below:
Pros:
- Available starting Oct. 1st
- Currently $2600/mo incl. water and garbage, don’t know if my landlords will update this price
- 1.5 BR/1 BA apartment, with living room, dining room, breakfast nook, kitchen
- located at Dolores & Market, four blocks to Dolores Park, four blocks to BART, and steps to nearly every Muni line and the Lime shuttle which takes you from the San Francisco Mint to Parnassus.
- the unit is newly remodeled everywhere: sliding Japanese style doors, a soak tub, granite counters, Viking range, Fisher & Paykel dishwasher and much more. after remodeling, the unit was featured in a design/architectural magazine for its innovative use of space.
- tons of storage space in the basement, enough for multiple bikes, boxes, even beds.
- a beautiful backyard, serene and quiet despite the apartment’s central location. perfect for grilling or lounging on a sunny afternoon.
- fully furnished with beautiful furniture. tons of bookshelf space. one built in desk and 0.5 bedroom can be used as a second office.
- amazing landlords, for whom this unit was home before they moved to Japan last year. for any repairs you have a list of folks to call who do any requested work and you deduct the amount from your monthly rent
- nice, quiet upstairs tenants who just bought the upstairs unit as a condo (the building only has two units, each a condo)
Cons:
- Parking is tough in this neighborhood, but once you get an S street parking permit you can pretty much just leave your car on a street until street cleaning and take public transportation everywhere.
This apartment will, in all likelihood, be rented within a week once my landlords start to show it…I just wanted to see if any UCSF’ers would like to grab it before it hits the crazy rental market! Please email me at arul@alumni.brown.edu if you have any questions or would like to stop by to see the apartment.

We are two female MS2s looking for a third female roommate!
6th and Irving, only a few blocks from the Parnassus campus
3 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom flat
Hardwood floors, Edwardian style, moulding, cute details
Apartment gets great light
Nice backyard
Large kitchen
Lower unit, just one unit upstairs
Central heating
Easy street parking in the neighborhood
Right next to the N Judah and all the yummy restaurants and conveniences of Irving St and 9th Ave
Very responsible and responsive landlords who live nearby (great if you get locked out on a Sunday morning!)
Rent is $950/month
Utilities (gas, electricity, cable internet) ~ $35/month
Looking ideally for someone long-term (6 mos to a year, at least), but we will also consider shorter-term interested parties (e.g., those doing away rotations at UCSF)
Please e-mail josemine@gmail.com and trinidad.solis@gmail.com if interested.

I am a 4th year medical student at UCSF, looking for a room or apartment in San Francisco to sublet for eight weeks from 9/12-11/7.
A sublet near Parnassus or Mt Zion would be ideal, but I am open to living anywhere in San Francisco. Parking is a plus, and I am flexible on rent.
Here is a little about me. I am 30 years old, kind, clean, considerate, and respectful. I love movies and music, practice meditation, and am a certified yoga teacher.
If you think that this sounds like a good fit, please send me an email with a little information about the place and a telephone number at which you can be reached. I look forward to hearing from you!
